Bali converts Boeing aircraft to tourist destination and Singapore Airlines converted Airbus into restaurant

Aircraft like Boeing and Airbus are designed to carry passengers who love to use the aerial route to travel from one place to another. These patrons value their time and want to reach their destination at the earliest. To them, time is money and they bring in revenue for the airlines. However, a time comes when these aircraft are used for purposes other than flying. One such example has become news. It seems inhabitants in Bali are witness to such a situation. Travel-starved diners eat in parked jets turned into restaurants. it was a huge success and travel-starved diners enjoyed the unique experience. At that time, the aviation industry was in a crisis and had to dream up strategies to remain visible. The airline was the flag carrier of Singapore and it offered passengers the chance to dine on board two A380 superjumbos -- the world's biggest passenger jet.

Floods in Kentucky leave at least 28 dead

Kentucky is a state of the United States. It has the Ohio River in the north and the Appalachian Mountains in the east. Heavy rains in the region have devastated the eastern parts of Kentucky and floods have taken a heavy toll of lives. The authorities confirmed loss of lives of at least 28 people. The figure could increase as more rains threaten the region. Andy Beshear, Governor of Kentucky confirmed death of at least four children. He added that more bodies have been recovered but details have yet to come out. At least 28 dead in devastating Kentucky flooding, with more expected, governor says.

The Governor also mentioned about "widespread damage" that displaced thousands of people. There are reports of power outages for thousands apart from washed out roads that have affected travel. Many homes are destroyed and schools are flooded. He would visit some of the regions to see for himself the impact of the floods. There are more rains forecast and search and rescue teams have been deployed to locate those who are reported to be missing. So far, aircraft and boats have rescued more than 600 people. Incidentally, the destruction in Kentucky is the latest extreme flooding event to take place in the U.S. in less than a week. Las Vegas witnessed heavy downpours coupled with flash floods. These led to rise in water levels on the road and parking garages in busy parts of city. It seems the mega drought in the region has dried up the soil. As a result, the region became so dry that it could not absorb the heavy rains. That factor probably contributed to the flooding. Kentucky is trying to establish shelters. Last week, President Joe Biden has already approved a disaster declaration.

EU to intensify maritime and aerial surveillance off the coast of Libya to deter people smugglers

People smugglers are posing a major problem for countries in Europe because it is not possible to refuse entry to the refugees of mid-eastern countries like Syria, Libya and accepting them on humanitarian grounds lead to problems related to housing and meeting other social benefits. Therefore, European Union ministers have decided to put a check to such illegal entry of migrants and have approved plans for an unprecedented naval force to fight people smugglers in the Mediterranean.

The operation will involve maritime and aerial surveillance by the deployment of warships and aircraft off the coast of Libya which, at present, is the source of the problem.
As indicated by EU foreign policy Chief Federica Mogherini, the decision that has been taken in Brussels is expected to disrupt the business model of the network of smugglers and traffickers in the Mediterranean. Some statistics on the subject would reveal the magnitude of the problem – in the current year, some 51,000 migrants have entered Europe by crossing the Mediterranean Sea and nearly 30,500 have entered through Italy. Moreover, about 1,800 have lost their lives in this attempt, they have met a watery grave.
The mission is proposed to be called EU Navfor Med and it will be based in Rome. The tentative plan is to collect intelligence on the traffickers by the use of radar, satellite pictures and reconnaissance flights and raiding unflagged boats.
