The demand for fresh human organs existed and Nikhil was a reliable supplier. He was grateful to the private nursing home where he spent a few weeks as a ward boy, and later graduated to be a be helper in the Operation Theater. That short stint was invaluable to him because it was there that he saw, handled and became familiar with surgical instruments like the scalpels, forceps and knives. He observed how the surgeon cut through the flesh and fat to reach into the innermost cavities of the human body.
