However, this still leaves a lot to be desired because, Indian me are still about 17.5cm shorter than the world's tallest males in the Netherlands. The Indian women, on the other hand, fall short by 17cm when compared with Latvian women who are believed to be the world's tallest.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 14 August 2016.
These are the findings of a study of human height measurements that involved 1,470 earlier studies and covered over 18.6 million participants in 200 countries. The study was a massive one and was conducted by more than 800 researchers - it was led by scientists from Imperial College, London. It has been revealed that most of the countries have shown an increase in height over the past century. Iranian men and South Korean women shot up most - by 16.5cm and 20.2cm. Unfortunately, the once-tall Americans, who were placed third among men and fourth among women in 1914 have slipped to 37th and 42nd place in 2014. In the final analysis, he ten tallest nations in 2014 were from European countries.
