Art of begging - Chinese style

China is a unique country where beggars are of the high-flying type and have perfected the art of begging. They flaunt costly wristwatches and latest iPhones and fly from one place to another when not begging. However, when the funds are low, they don the garb of beggars by wearing ragged clothes and dishing out hard luck stories.
The police have arrested four "professional beggars" from southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.
It seems they were pretending to be penniless migrant workers, unable to return home.
As per the police, the four disguised themselves as beggars before going on a "cheating tour" around the country. Last month, they had taken a fight to Chongqing to "collect money" to prepare for Spring Festival — Chinese New Year — which falls on February 19. Till date, each of them has raised around $130 and all of them own costly wristwatches and iPhones. Moreover, one of them owns an iPhone 6 Plus.
A recent survey carried out among over 20,000 respondents has revealed that 82.3% of them are of the opinion that begging as cheating.
Of course, India also has its share of rich beggars. In 2012, in Ajmer, a beggar died with nearly Rs 2 lakh (about US$4,000) in his pockets. He used to beg at the dargah. He had come to Ajmer nearly three years ago and had no friends and he died from various ailments that may have been treated with the money that he had.
