Snow Leopard spotted for first time in the Kumaon Himalayas

Conversationalists are excited because the evasive snow leopard, one of the most endangered species on the planet, has been spotted in Kumaon Himalayas.
This has been reported in zeenews.india.com dated 9 July 2015.
It is understood that forest department officials of Uttarakhand had placed cameras at strategic locations and have, thus, succeeded in capturing visuals of one of the animals. The camera trap photograph of the snow leopard was the first documented evidence of the presence of the species in Kumaon region. It is known to prowl elsewhere in the wilds in the state and is the first time it has been sighted in Kumaon.
As per the forest officials, the very recent photographs of this rare endangered species is an undeniable proof of the fact that there are quite a few of them in this place – there is not just one, but 11 of the animals in the region. The snow leopard was captured in Bageshwar district on June 29 at an altitude of 4,100 meters above sea level and, based on this evidence, forest department plans to draw up better conservation strategy for this endangered species. Global warming – snow on the Himalayas is melting too fast due to rise in temperatures

Due to sudden increase in temperatures within the last 72 hours, snow on Himalayas have started to melt rapidly and all snow-fed rivers like Beas, Parvati, Chenab, Satluj, Ravi and water streams are in spate with the level of water rising every day.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 20 June 2015.
With the snow cover in low-lying hills disappearing and water levels rising, warnings have been issued to people. The statewide night temperature has increased by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours and the day temperature has risen over 7 degrees Celsius within a week.
AS per Shimla meteorological Centre, Una in Himachal has a temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, the hottest in Himachal. Shimla (26.6), Dharamshala (31.4), Manali (27.8), Kalpa (25.8) and Solan (31.4). Incidentally, while night temperature in Keylong and Bharmaur was below 4 degrees Celsius 10 days ago, it is now above 10.5 degrees Celsius.
The result of the fast flowing waters from the hills is that it is resulting in soil erosion and bringing with it large amount of silt. These are settling down in the reservoirs of hydel projects downstream and also on riverbeds and are not good signs for the environment.

Fresh rumors of Big Foot sighting in Yellowstone National Park

#YellowstoneNationalPark #sasquatch #bigfoot #oldfaithful Big Foot is to the United States as Nessie, the Loch Ness monster is to Scotland or the Yeti is to the Himalayas – while many believe that both of these are nothing but myths, the sudden news of sighting of these creatures dos allow imagination to take wings.
In the latest case, some Sasquatch enthusiasts are of the opinion that the footage shot at Yellowstone National Park shows not one but four of the mythological creatures known as Big Foot. As reported in news.sky.com dated 6 February 2015, the footage is of bison roaming around in a snow-covered park and, suddenly, four creatures walking upright appear in the background.
The footage was posted by user Mary Greeley and has, reportedly, been watched some 40,000 times since the end of December. The video had captured the scene on camera near the tourist attraction's Old Faithful geyser but, it cuts away before the camera can get close enough to look at the creatures.
Bigfoot is believed to have flat feet - similar to a human's - and a footprint that spans over 40cm and enthusiasts keep hoping to lay hands on evidence that could prove the existence of such a creature that is widely thought to be fictional. In the opinion of scientists, most of the supposed sightings are cases of misidentification of other animals or hoaxes.
