India-Pakistan cricket series in UAE – BJP leader opposes it

The Chiefs of India`s and Pakistan`s cricket boards had met in Kolkata and have subsequently informed the media that talks have been held on the proposed India-Pakistan cricket series which would be conducted in a neutral venue, permeably the United Arab Emirates.

The proposal is to have three Test matches, five one-day internationals (ODIs) and two T20 games.
However, one of the leaders of BJP who is an MP from Bihar has objections to such a course of action. In his opinion, Pakistan continues to extend support to terrorists like Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and also allow Dawood Ibrahim to move about freely in Pakistan, what purpose would be served by holding cricket matches.
His utterances are strange because Prime Minister Narendra Modi is always trying to mend fences with the neighbors and he should seize this opportunity to carry out a bit of cricket diplomacy. We already have Pakistani cricketers in the IPL games – some of them are directly attached to the teams as coaches, others are a part of the commentary teams while others liven up the IPL shows with their presence and share snippets of history.
A game like cricket should be devoid of politics.

#Intelligencereport #Mumbai #terrorattack #searoute Intelligence reports have been provided to the Mumbai Police about the possibility of a terror attack by Lashkar-e-Toiba militants on the financial capital of Mumbai. The intelligence inputs suggest that there could be a group of 8-10 militants and they could sneak in through the sea route. Their probable targets could be hotels of railway stations.

The fears have been expressed because of the release of Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi from Pakistani jail of the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. He was a commander of the LeT.
It may be recalled that in 2008, a seaborne assault was carried out by Pakistani gunmen on Mumbai, the nation`s financial capital. There were a total of 10 Pakistani gunmen who arrived on a rubber boat in Mumbai. Subsequently, they carried out a commando-style assault on two luxury hotels, a train station and a Jewish center in which a total of 166 people of different nationalities were killed.
After the attack that caught the security people by surprise, India has upgraded coastal security, invested heavily on patrol vessels, helicopters and building a coastal radar network to prevent a similar attack.
However, the fact remains that many of the CCTVs installed at critical locations do not function, there are gaping holes in the boundary walls of railway stations and the Indian common man is still too simple – they can be taken for a ride very easily by smooth operators. Even the police who are detailed to man the check points do not know what exactly they are looking for.
