Asia T-20 - India beat Pakistan hollow at Dhaka - Virat Kohli Man of the Match

Any cricket match between India and Pakistan, the arch rivals, is usually one full of excitement and one expects nail biting finishes but the Asia T-20 at Dhaka was a totally different kettle of fish. It turned out to be a sad display of cricket and set to bat first, Pakistan managed to score just 83 runs in 17.3 overs - they could not play out the full quota of 20 overs. This has been reported in ibnlive.com dated 27 February 2016.
Pakistan had players like Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, and Umar Akmal in the team and failed miserably to put up a decent definable score. For India, they began on a bad note and were tottering at three for eight in 2.4 overs when Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh joined forces to take India home. Virat Kohli missed out on another 50 but he and Yuvrah Singh stitched 68-run partnership after Mohammad Amir's fiery spell. India finally cruised home to a five-wicket win in 15.3 overs over Pakistan in their second Asia Cup T20 match in Dhaka and, with this win, India are top of the table with four points in two matches. Hardik Pandya was the pick of India's bowlers, finishing with 3 for 8 while Ravindra Jadeja captured 2 for 11.

IPL8 – listless batting dooms Chennai Super Kings – Delhi Daredevils win by 6 wickets

#IPL8 #DDvCSK #ShreyasIyer #ZaheerKhan It was listless batting that let down the table toppers Chennai Super Kings in their encounter at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur, as reported in zeenews.india.com dated 12 May 2015.
CSK won the toss and elected to bat and Faf du Plessis top scored with 27 runs while M S Dhoni could manage only 27 runs. Others like Dwayne Bravo, Pawan Negi and Ravindra Jadeja failed to reach double figures. There were only three sixes hit by a side known for hard hitting. Obviously, it was one of the most pathetic shows by CSK.
Anyway, for the Delhi Daredevils, Zaheer Khan was the demolisher – he took 2 for 9 runs in his 4 overs – his victims were the prized scalps of Brendon McCullum and M S Dhoni.
It was a well-disciplined bowling show by DD and it all began with the first over being a maiden bowled by Shahbaz Nadeem.
Chasing the small target of 120, DD began precariously – they lost two quick wickets of opener Quinton de Kock (3) and Captain Jean-Paul Duminy (6) cheaply and were 24 for 2. However, Shreyas Iyer with 70 not out and Yuvraj Singh (32) ensured a win for DD with hopes of a playoff berth not being ruled out.

IPL8 – with four wins in a row, Mumbai beat Delhi to move up to 4th spot in the points table

#IPL8 #MIvsDD #YuvrajSingh #RohitSharma #AmbatiRayudu Winning the toss and electing to bat, Delhi Daredevils managed to put up a score of 152 with Yuvraj Singh top scoring with 57 in 44 balls. But, Mumbai Indians chased it down to register their fourth win in a row and climb up the points table to occupy the 4th spot.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 6 May 2015.
It was a contest between dazzling strokemakers but, Rohit Sharma (46) and Ambati Rayudu (49*) of Mumbai easily outshone Yuvraj Singh of Delhi and won a five-wicket victory with three balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Man of the Match was Harbhajan Singh for his 2 for 11 in 4 overs in which one was a maiden over.
It was a rain disrupted match and, Mumbai were in trouble with four wickets falling too soon with fears of D/L spoiling the show but the remaining batsmen steadied the ship and – all is well that ends well.

IPL8 – Rajasthan Royals back to winning ways – defeat Delhi Daredevils by 14 runs

#IPL8 #RRvsDD #AjinkyaRahane #orangecap #IPL500 It was an Ajinkya Rahane and Karun Nair show at Brabourne Stadium when they helped beat Delhi Daredevils by 14 runs and regain the top spot in the points table by displacing Chennai Super Kings as reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 3rd May 2015.
Rahane remained not out with 91 runs (9 fours, 3 sixes) while Karun Nair contributed 61 runs (6 fours, 2 sixes) to put up an imposing total of 189 for 2 and, the DD boys could score only 175 for 7 in the stipulated 20 overs. Thereby, RR won by 14 runs and moved up with 14 points in 11 matches.
Of course, CSK has played 9 matches so far and have 12 points – the situation in the points table could change. For Delhi Daredevils, captain J P Duminy top scored with 56 runs (3 fours, 3 sixes) but, Yuvraj Singh could contribute only 22 runs ( 4 fours and no sixes). Obviously, he has yet to get back his form.
Man of the Match was Ajinkya Rahane – he also got back his Orange Cap being top scorer in IPL8 till now.
Incidentally, it was the 500th match of IPL.

IPL8 – Delhi Daredevils dared Mumbai Indians - register win at home

#IPL8 #DDvsMI #ShreyasIyer #Duminy It was a sterling performance for Delhi opener Shreyas Iyer who managed to post a 56-ball 83 (7x4, 5x6). He, along with his skipper J P Duminy helped his team to post a formidable score of 190 in front of the visiting Mumbai Indians at Feroze Shah Kotla grounds in Delhi. Yuvraj Singh gave another flop show – he scored only 2 runs.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 24 April 2015.
J P Duminy remained unbeaten with 78 off 50 balls by hitting three fours and six sixes.
Their combined strength paved the way for Delhi Daredevils to register their third victory of the season by beating Mumbai Indians by 37 runs.
Imran Tahir captured 3 wickets for 22 runs and Shreyas Iyer was declared the Man of the Match.
Mumbai Indians had won the toss and sent in the home team to bat first but had not expected to see the way runs kept coming. Faced with a stiff target, Mumbai Indians did not really get off to a rollicking start. By the 11th over they were down to 82 for 4. Once Rohit Sharma fell with the score at 131, others followed in quick succession. Even Harbhajan Singh, a savior at times, did not click.
With this win, DD moves up the points table to No 4 while MI languishes at the bottom of the rung.

IPL8 – DD suffers another last ball loss to RR at Feroz Shah Kotla grounds

#IPL8 #DDvsRR #YuvrajSingh #TimSouthee It was yet another last ball loss in IPL8 for the Delhi Daredevils in Fezoz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi when Rajasthan Royals beat them even after they had put up an impressive total of 184 on the board. This has been reported in sports.ndtv.com dated 12 April 2015.
RR chose to field after winning the toss and DD got off to a good start with Mayank Agarwal (37) and Shreyas Iyer (40) setting the tone. A cameo innings from Yuvraj Singh (27) and Angelo Mathews (27*) coupled with JP Duminy’s 44 saw a score of 184 on the board.
It was a good score but they had not reckoned with the likes of Ajinkya Rahane who played a solid hand of 45 and 19-year-old Deepak Hooda, the right-hander from Baroda, who slammed 54 from just 25 balls. He got a life when Yuvraj Singh fumbled with the ball and missed a run-out chance when Hooda was on 23.
Finally, it was Tim Southee who hit a last ball boundary to take Rajasthan home in a nail biting finish.
Previously, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to field. Delhi Daredevils got off to a flying start as Mayank Agarwal (37) and Shreyas Iyer (40) flayed the Royals bowling to all over the park. However, the Royals pegged back the Daredevils with some disciplined middle over bowling. In the end, it was cameos from Yuvraj Singh (27) and Angelo Mathews (27*) that helped the Daredevils step on to the gas and go past 180. Captain JP Duminy remained unbeaten on 44.

CSK shows why they are the best in IPL – denies DD a win

#IPL8 #CSKvDD #jpduminy #yuvrajsingh #albiemorkel Playing on home ground is always fun and CSK would have cut a sorry figure if DD had won their opening match of IPL8 in Chennai. But, the game finally went CSK’s way and they beat DD to the punch in an exciting finish at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. This has been reported in www.cricketbuzz.com dated 10 April 2015.
J P Duminy, the new captain of Delhi Daredevils, won the toss and chose to field first. His strategy was to restrict CSK to a reasonable total and then chase it down. His strategy would have succeeded but, ultimately, it ended with a last ball finish with the match going CSK’s way.
For DD, neither Yuvraj Sigh nor J P Duminy could make any impression and, thanks to the 5 ball 73 hammered by Albie Morkel, a win was within grasp but it slipped way. The last over was thrilling. With 14 required off the last three balls, Morkel first hit a big six over midwicket. Then he ran two to bring down the equation to six runs off the last ball.
CSK had, by then, their heart in the mouth as Morkel swatted the full delivery towards long-off for a boundary and DD fell short by one run.
Earlier, DD did a fine job to restrict CSK to 150 runs when it seemed that they would have notched up nearly 200. Leg spinner Nathan Coulter-Nile was instrumental in keeping CSK in check - his terrific death bowling managed to keep CSK to a chaseable total.
