Cannes has banned burkinis on its beaches due to terror threats. This has been announced by the mayor. He has banned the wearing of burkinis (full-body swimsuits) on the beaches of the French Riviera resort which is famous for its annual film festival.
Mayor David Lisnard has ruled that "access to beaches and for swimming is banned to anyone who does not have (bathing apparel) which respects good customs and secularism" because that is a founding principle of the French republic.

It is possible that beachwear which ostentatiously displays religious affiliation, when France and places of worship are currently the target of terrorist attacks, will result in risks of disrupting public order (crowds, scuffles etc). It is necessary that this be prevented.
It has been clarified by the head of municipal services for the town that it is not about banning the wearing of religious symbols on the beach, but ban ostentatious clothing which could have references to terrorist movements.
The riviera city of Nice was the target of an attack on July 14. Its responsibility was claimed by ISIS and 85 people were killed when a truck ploughed into seafront crowds who had gathered to celebrate the French national holiday. Later, on July 26 a priest was killed in his church in northwestern France by two attackers who had proclaimed their allegiance to ISIS.

British Airlines have suspended all flights to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt indefinitely

British Airways and a number of other airlines like EasyJet and Monarch have suspended all flights to Sharm el-Sheikh, the favorite tourist spot in Egypt, "indefinitely" because of continued security concerns following the bombing of a Russian jet in the sky over Egypt.

It may be noted that no flights have operated between the UK and the Red Sea resort since November last year after the terrorist bombing of a passenger plane in which all 224 on board were killed. BA had initially cancelled flights up until specific dates pending a change in Government advice. But, it has now indicated that since the safety and security of the customers will always be the topmost priority they have suspended all flights from Gatwick to Sharm el-Sheikh indefinitely. Those who hold bookings on any cancelled services for the coming winter season can claim a full refund or can opt for a new booking to an alternative destination.
Similarly, EasyJet, the low-cost carrier, "remains committed to resuming services to Sharm", but that can happen only when the Government changes its advice. Monarch has, incidentally, cancelled all flights to Sharm up to and including October 30. It has added that it expects to resume services from the beginning of the winter season. And, Thomson Airways has suspended its flights to Sharm until at least September 28.

There are rising fears of a terrorist plot to murder an officer on the streets of UK. The nation's counter-terrorism chief has also revealed that hundreds of extra firearms officers will be deployed across London.
Incidentally, the fears of an attack in Britain was a result of the atrocities in France that left 17 dead – three of them were police officers. The fears grew after Belgian commandos killed Islamic State (IS) fanatics who wanted to behead a policeman or judge. The plot was an echo of the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby in Woolwich.
It may be noted that adoption of the dual patrolling, as a policy, would be something that had earlier been considered a luxury. Moreover, with limited resources, Home Secretary Theresa May had encouraged forces to let officers take to the streets alone. However, the situation has changed and the reversal will be welcomed by London's frontline officers. They have felt increasingly in danger, because of threats and amid warnings from Islamists that uniformed police or soldiers would be targets for terror attacks.
