Coca Cola launches new ginger flavoured fizzy beverage in Australia

Encouraged by increase in sales of Coca-Cola ginger-flavoured beverages by six per cent over the past year, Coca Cola has launched a new limited edition ginger-flavoured drink called 'Coca Cola Ginger'. The new range of this fizzy beverage, described as having a 'Great Coke taste with a refreshing ginger twist', will be sold individually or in a six-pack and are bright red with a section of gold at the top.

It is understood that labels on the new Coke bottles are similar to the original, but feature strips of gold and both the plastic and glass bottles have gold lids. Australia has been selected as the first country in the world to try the new flavor which has been launched nationwide. Coca-Cola South Pacific Group Marketing Manager said the company was excited to unveil the new flavor in Australia.
Coca Cola feels that research has revealed that ginger is particularly popular during the Summer months. Hence, introducing Coca-Cola Ginger in the market is the ideal way to spearhead its exciting and unexpected Summer campaign that is expected to capture the imagination of Australia.

Coca-Cola India will not renew contract with Salman Khan to promote Thums Up

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will no longer be seen in the ads of soft drink Thums Up. It has been revealed that Coca-Cola India will not renew its contract with Salman Khan to promote its soft drink Thums Up after four years of association.
The contract with Salman had expired last month and Coca-Cola is believed to be in talks with young star Ranveer Singh who could replace Salman Khan.

As per a joint statement, Coca-Cola India and the actor has indicated that since Salman Khan was committed to an existing relationship with a daily TV show, which this year happens to be sponsored by a brand that competes with the Coca-Cola India product portfolio, both parties have mutually decided not to renew the current contract.
Some feel that the decision not to renew the contract with the 50-year-old star has more to do with the image of Coca-Cola because it is perceived as a brand for the young.
Coca-Cola India had taken inducted Salman as brand ambassador for the second time to endorse its Thums Up brand in October 2012. Salman Khan replaced another Bollywood star Akshay Kumar who had earlier endorsed the brand in the early 2000s.

Coca-Cola to stop production of its beverage in Venezuela because of sugar shortage

Shortage of sugar is forcing Coca-Cola out of business in Venezuela - it is suspending production of its namesake soft drink in the country. The US company has said that it is forced to take the action because it has run out of the raw material. Of course, Coca-Cola has said that sugar-free drinks would not be be affected.
The economy of the country is on the verge of collapse and there is widespread shortage of food and inflation is forecast to cross 700%.

It may be noted that last month, Venezuela's largest food and drinks company, Empresas Polar, has stopped production of beer due to its inability to procure adequate quantities of imported barley.
There has been violent clashes between security forces and supporters of the opposition to President Nicolas Maduro who had, lat week, imposed a 60-day state of emergency that gave extra powers to police and soldiers. However, in the opinion of analysts, the state of emergency is irrelevant for Venezuelans because their daily life routine consists of spending hours in queue waiting to buy scarce food and basic goods. There have also been reports of looting in Venezuela in recent weeks.
Last year the US has identified Venezuela as a danger to its national security.
