This has been reported by the Dongcheng District People's Court in Beijing.
It seems police had detained Chan, Taiwanese movie star Ko Kai and several others in August in Chan's Beijing apartment. Chan and Ko had both tested positive for marijuana, and police seized more than 3.5 ounces of marijuana from Chan's home. Normally, the maximum sentence for such charges could be three years in prison but, the court showed leniency because Chan had confessed voluntarily and also felt ashamed of his actions. He has promised to mend his ways.
Incidentally, this trial was an extremely sensitive issue for Jackie Chan because he had been an anti-drug ambassador in 2009. He also in in China's top national political advisory panel -- the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He has hopes that his singer-actor son will, one day, become an anti-drug ambassador.
