Vandals strike a centuries-old Italian winery and spill wine worth £420,000

Vandals broke into the centuries-old grounds of an Italian winery and spilled Pinot Grigio wine worth almost £420,000. The wine was maturing in tanks at the Conte Vistarino estate in the northern Lombardy region and the intruders opened the taps to allow the wine to drain out.
The act has been described as an act of of "sabotage" because while hundreds of thousands of liters were spilled into the drains, nothing was reportedly stolen.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 12 December 2016.
The countess who manages her family's winery has indicated that an investigation is underway and has described the break-in as an "act of vandalism" and has added that she had no idea of who might be behind the vandalism.
The sprawling estate located about 70-Km from Milan has been the family's home since the 15th Century. It includes 180 hectares of vines, apart from hundreds of hectares of woodland, forests and arable land. The area is known especially for the Pinot Nero grape - it is used to produce bubbly whites as well as red wines.

Rat inside Air India’s Dreamliner forces it to abort flight to Milan and return to Delhi

A rat in the cabin of an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner forced the aircraft to return back to base after four hours into the flight AI-123 from New Delhi to Milan. The rat was spotted by some passengers and crew members. Since such sighting means the aircraft must land immediately, the captain had no other alternative.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 31 July 2015.
At the time, the aircraft was over Pakistan airspace and needed to jettison furl to ensure a safe landing. It had been filled up for the long flight to Italy hence, a large quantity of fuel had to be jettisoned.
Rat menace in aircraft is not new – it happens all over the world. But, this happens to be the second time in as many months that AI flights from Delhi faced a rodent problem. In May-end, its aircraft had to be grounded in Leh after some rats were spotted on it.
In the opinion of experts, rats usually get on board an aircraft via the catering vans. The rodents follow the large storage cases in which food trays are kept. Food keeps getting dropped and the rats get on the high lifts that take those storage cases to aircraft and, subsequently, remain there.
The trouble is that if they chew through the electrical cables of the aircraft, it can go out of control and crash. (Image courtesy wikimediacommons.org)

‘Nemo’s Garden’ in Italy experimenting with growing vegetables under the sea

Drought conditions in different parts of the world make it difficult to grow fruits and vegetables in the normal way and poses major challenges for farmers. Therefore, to circumvent such a situation, a group of Italian divers have come up with a viable alternative. It is underwater cultivation and they have already had success – the have produced basil, coriander, strawberries, lettuce, and beans and are now experimenting with various fruits and vegetables.
This has been reported in foxnews.com dated 24 July 2015.
The project has been started by the Italy-based Ocean Reef Group. They have built small transparent balloons in the Mediterranean Sea and, inside the structures are fitted a ring of vases with seeds to see how they would grow. The project has partnered with World Expo 2015 in Milan.
The internal layout of the garden in the bubble makes the plants self-sustaining. There is natural evaporation inside the biosphere which creates natural and fresh water – this water evaporates, condenses, and finally rains on the plants.
The team wants to come up with a true alternative to traditional agriculture.
