As per the survey it is evident that Delhiites are least vacation deprived as compared to the other metro cities in India. In fact, 60% of people in Delhi would prefer more vacation days instead of money and they are usually very excited to plan their vacations. Interestingly, 7% of them actually book a vacation before they land back from their current vacation.
The common reasons why Indians shy away from taking vacations are due to work schedules (26%), a personal schedule that does not allow for vacation time (25%). Then there are reasons like accumulating the holidays to go out on a long vacation (23%), and converting the holidays into money (22%). Yet another reason is the inability to coordinating a time that works for spouse, partner, family members (21%).
Other factors that have emerged from the survey are - 40% of Indians cannot plan vacations in advance due to work. Indians also ranked second globally in cancelling holiday plans due to work (74%) after Thailand (77%).
In the fast paced world of today, vacations should be viewed with seriousness – the general tendency today is that both husband and wife go out to work and the meetings with children and family members are usually restricted for weekends. Moreover, the weekends have other commitments for both the husband and wife. How then can they unwind and recharge their batteries unless they go out on vacations?
There are any number of websites on travel and holiday destinations both at home and abroad and these should be made use of to plan vacations and bring fun and excitement into an otherwise monotonous life.
