IPL8 – a fight between two Davids but, SRH finally beat KXIP by 5 runs to move up to 4th spot

#IPL8 #SRHvKXIP #DavidWarner #DavidMiller #DavidvsDavid Batting first, Sun Risers Hyderabad put up a score of 185 for the loss of 5 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, and, in the run chase, Kings XI Punjab fell short by 5 runs. Thereby, SRH moved up the points table to 4th spot and dislodged Royal Challengers Bangalore.

It was a fight between two Davids - David Warner, captain of SRH, scored 81 runs with six fours and five sixes and David Miller of KXIP who remained not out on 89 from two fours and nine sixes, was unable to retrieve the situation. Moises Henriques played spoilsport with his 3 for 16. His victims were Captain George Bailey, wicketkeeper Wriddiman Saha and Gurkeerat Singh Mann.
KXIP failed to overhaul the score of SRH and fell to the lowest spot with only 2 with in 12 games. Incidentally, in IPL7, KXIPP was a finalist and lost to KKR.
David Warner was declared the Man of the Match.

IPL8 – Yuvraj Singh shines Delhi Daredevils win at Pune

#IPL8 #KXIPvDD #yuvraj #sehwag #mayankagarwal At long last Yuvraj Sigh came into his own at Pune by smashing 55 runs in the match against the Kings XI Punjab – it was the first and, a much needed win, for the Delhi Daredevils as reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 15 April 2015.

Yuvraj Singh (55 three sixes and five fours) in the company of Mayank Agarwal (68 two sixes and seven fours) helped Delhi Daredevils to beat Kings XI Punjab by 5 wickets and register their first win of the eighth season of the Indian Premier League at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The pair put on 106 runs for the third wicket before both fell to Anureet Singh who send both back to the pavilion in successive balls of the penultimate over.
KXIP had scored 165 and, with 166 to score, the Delhi boys chased it down with one ball to spare and won by 5 wickets.
Winning the toss, KXIP decided to bat first and Virender Sehwag top-scored with a 41-ball 47 and with a 71-run partnership for the second wicket between him and Wriddhiman Saha (39) Kings XI Punjab managed to an apparently competitive score of 165 for seven. But, cricket is an unpredictable game, especially the T20 version where a single over can change the complexion of the game. The result, at times, disappoints the fans and takes everyone, including the opposition by surprise.

#SydneyTest #Kohli At the end of the 4th day, Australia has a huge lead of 348 runs and, if they decide to let the Indians have a go at scoring 349 runs on the last day, it would be a fantastic 5th day. Cricket Test matches spilling over to the 5th day is gradually becoming a regular feature unlike the times when it would finish on the 3rd day itself.
Actually, Indians have only themselves to blame for allowing the Aussies to have plundered runs in the last session of the 4th day and it is now up to the batsmen to make a match of it.
There would be 90 overs on the 5th and last day and a score of 349 would mean scoring around 4 runs per over – with our boys tuned to the ODI and T20 formats, such a task should be an easy one because they are accustomed to scoring at even 6 and 7 runs per over if needed.
Hence, Virat Kohli should take the field with a positive frame of mind and tell his boys – we can do it. Take it session by session and keep gnawing away at the target. Keep whittling it down and watch the Aussies fuming and fretting.
Let us not keep it to the end for R Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to come to the rescue but the top order should play out of their skins and win the 5th match. They are the batsmen and must deliver and not leave the task to tailenders. When the tail wags, it looks good but that does not always happen.
