Narendra Modi, the man of many slogans

Slogans and leaders are inseparable and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is no exception. He has revealed his knack of coining slogans – he loves to coin them at the drop of a hat and ensures that his slogans reach the target audience without fail.
The speed at which he is going, he could very well get his name into the Guinness Book of World Records on this count alone.
Incidentally, the previous Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh never opened his mouth and his successor Narendra Modi does not want to close his.
Among Modi’s famous slogans till date are – make in India which he gave in the Independence Day.
When he visited Nepal in August-2014, he gave them his HIT mantra. HIT was an acronym for Highways, I-Ways and Transways. He suggested such a model for Nepal for its development while speaking to Nepalese parliamentarians in Kathmandu.
During his 5-day tour to Japan in September-2014, he gave his 3-D mantra. He explained that India was ready to offer the three essential 'Ds' for businessmen to thrive namely; Democracy, Demography and Demand.
In anticipation of the visit of China's President Xi Jinping to India during second half of Septenber-2014, , Modi coined the slogan "INCH, that is 'India-China'; towards MILES — 'millennium of exceptional synergy'. "
Some other slogans coined by Indians are: Swaraj (self-rule) is my birthright – this is the slogan coined by Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Then there was another one coined by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose – give me blood and I will give you freedom. In free India, one famous slogan was ‘Jai jawan, jasi kisan’ – it was coined by Lal Bahadur Shastri during the 1965 war with Pakistan. Then in 1971 came ‘garibi hatao’ of Indira Gandhi.
In the international front, the ‘yes, we can’ slogan has left its mark - it was coined by Barack Obama in 2008 when he became the first black President of the USA.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel – the Iron Man of India who India forgot

Long before Narendra Modi came to power, he had visions of a statue dedicated to Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India on the lines of the Statue of Liberty in the United States and, on coming to power in Delhi, he has set the ball in motion by announcing that 31st October be henceforth be celebrated as National Unity Day dnaindia.com.
Many may not know why he earned the sobriquet of the Iron Man - he was a man of principles as well as a fierce nationalist. His philosophy always was ‘nation first’. His success in integrating around 565 princely states after independence earned for him the sobriquet of ‘Iron Man’. His policy ensured that the princely states had no other option but to merge with India.
This day was, till last year, identified as the day Indira Gandhi was shot dead.
There is no dispute that both the names of Vallabhbhai Patel and Indira Gandhi bring up memories and the Nation owes a lot to them but, dedicating a statue to the Sardar would be a fitting tribute to one of the founding fathers of our country who had direct roles to play in our freedom.
It is strange that no political party has, so far, harbored any idea to honor the Iron Man who had been entrusted by Mahatma Gandhi to organize the historical Dandi march which he successfully did.
Full credit should now go to Narendra Modi to revive our glorious past.
Building such a monument would take decades and would need crores of rupees and, the necessary funds could come from the uncovering of black money stashed away in foreign banks by the rich and famous.
