Music Tourism a money spinner for Britain – brought in £3.1bn last year

Music Tourism is turning out to be a money spinner for Britain because, since 2011, music tourism has grown by 39%. An estimated 9.5 million people had undertaken long journeys to come to events last year from across the UK and abroad and they generated £3.1bn.

There has been a significant increase in the number of music fans who are travelling from overseas to see their favorite bands perform live at Britain's festivals and concerts. This is helping to provide a major boost to the economy.
More than half a million of the music lovers were from other countries and, each one of them has handed businesses worth about £750 to Brittan. Festivals like the Glastonbury festival, the Bestival on the Isle of Wight and Suffolk's Latitude Festival are big draws.
The arrival of tourists help taxis, shops, restaurants and everyone else - the whole economy benefits from these festivals.

Glastonbury Festival might move out from Worthy Farm to a new location

The Glastonbury festival in Worthy Farm that has been drawing huge number of people ever since 1970 when it first came into being. However, in the opinion of Michael Eavis, its founder and organizer, it might be necessary to move to some other location in the future.
He does not own the complete site but only the portion where the Pyramid stage is erected and, therefore, it is increasingly difficult to stage the event. He is apparently looking for alternative sites and is keeping that fact a secret.

So far, millions have been making the pilgrimage here for decades and, starting with just over a thousand people, it has now become the biggest and best-loved music festival in the world. When it started, the people were offered free milk with their ticket. The music lovers came for the music but the event also attracted free spirits probably to the site's symbolism and mystical links.
Right now nearly 135,000 revelers pay hundreds of pounds to join the party and watch star acts like Beyonce and The Rolling Stones. Obviously, it has undergone a sea change.
