Puri offering new water sports activities for tourists in 2016


Tourists who plan to visit Puri will soon be able to enjoy a range of water sports activities that will be introduced in the holy town from next month. This will be done by entrepreneur Kamal Dey. He will throw open his water sports center along Puri and Chandrabhaga beach by the end of January.
The center will offer adventure sports like jet skiing, snorkeling and parasailing and tourists will also be able to take a hovercraft ride along the 33-Km coastline from Ramachandi to Puri.

The center is the Sai Sagar Adventures and it would run the hovercraft service with highest-quality of maritime and water sports equipment namely. Pacific Explorer hovercraft. It will be an air-conditioned cruise experience with only eight passengers, including the driver. They can travel from Puri up to Ramachandi and return in 90 minutes - the hovercraft will run at a speed of about 60-Km per hour.
Entrepreneur Kamal Dey has been operating similar activities in Goa and Jammu for the past six years.

Odisha to kick-start tourist season with two festivals in December


Odisha is preparing to welcome toutrists in December for two major festivals - the Konark Dance Festival and International Sand Art Festival simultaneously from December 1 to 5 will kick-start the festivities. Odisha expects a huge rush of tourists from around the world on the occasion.

The venue of the dance festival will be an exquisite open-air auditorium with the magnificent Sun Temple forming the backdrop. The sand art festival will be held on the beautiful Chandrabhaga beach, located some 2-Km from Konark.
As informed by the Tourism and culture minister,, the dance festival will showcase Odissi, Manipuri, Satriya, Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam and Kathak. Ten highly acclaimed danseuses have confirmed their participation in the event, and the list includes well-known performers such as Jatin Goswami, Vyjayanthi Kashi, Rajashree Shirke and others.
The sand art festival has created a niche among all such contemporary events across the world and there would be five solo artists, each from the US, Canada, Spain, New Zealand and Ghana, along with Indian artists.
There will be 35 kiosks at the festival and 30 of these will be of Indian artists and there will be different themes on each of the five days. The themes will be global warming, heritage, Swachh Bharat, unity in diversity and world peace.
The Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) will sponsor the stay of the participants.
