Death toll in swine flu in India crosses the 1000 mark with more than 18000 affected

#swineflu #JPNadda #H1N1 #health Figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that the total number of deaths due to swine flu has reached 1,005, while the number of those affected was 18,105 till yesterday. This has been informed by Health Minister J P Nadda while he was responding to questions on the issue in the Lok Sabha and reported in zeenews.india.com dated 27 February 2015.
He has also added that there are only 21 laboratories for testing swine flu and that is inadequate therefore there are plans to set up H1N1 testing laboratories in every state of the country for which necessary financial provisions are being made.
Most of the casualties have been in Rajasthan where the toll is 251 and in Gujarat where it was 246. The figures for other states are 143 in Madhya Pradhesh while Maharashtra reported 125, 56 in Telangana, and 10 in Delhi.

#swineflu #H1N1 #jpnadda Swine flu deaths have already crossed the 600 mark in this year and with the dreaded H1N1 influenza A virus apparently defying its survival limitations, the health ministry and doctors appear to be at their wits end as reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 18 February 2015.
As per official estimates, the number of swine flu deaths have increased twofold as compared to the previous year and the toll now is 624 out of a total of 9,311 people who have been infected. In February itself, there were more than 300 deaths across the country.
In comparison, during 2014, there were 937 cases all over India and out of them, a total of 218 died. Doctors have revealed that with the rise in temperatures and, as it gets warmer, the cases should reduce but that is not happening this year.
The general recommendation of Doctors is that only those patients who have moderate to acute symptoms should go to hospitals for tests and treatment and those with milder symptoms should remain at home and go in for antiviral medicines and take necessary precautions.
Union health minister JP Nadda has held several review meetings and the ministry has issued directives to pharma companies to expedite supply of antiviral medicines to state hospitals and licensed retail outlets. It seems last week, there were reports of retail medicine shortages from some states, including Maharashtra and Delhi.
