President-elect Donald Trump plans to do nothing in the first two days in office

President-elect Donald Trump is, undoubtedly, going to be a new type of President of the US - he will take over office on 20 January, Friday but would begin to work only from Monday. He wants enjoy his first weekend in office by taking off.
He plans to do absolutely nothing for his first two days in office and that his "day one is gonna be Monday". The reason as he has indicated is that he doesn't want his signing of orders to clash with the celebrations. This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz dated 17 January 2017.

President-elect Donald Trump has also clarified that one of the first orders he plans to sign would be strong borders. This has surprised many because he had earlier said that he would spend his very first day signing papers to begin the process of erasing President Barack Obama's legacy. He had mentioned that within one hour after assuming office he would begin swiftly to remove criminal illegal immigrants from the USA - he had said this in the course of a speech in Des Moines back in August.
He had also promised to begin plans to build a wall on the Mexican border, talk to manufacturers about keeping jobs in the US and remove gun-free zones within his first 24 hours.
Obviously, after winning the election, he has recast his priorities.

The Italian authorities have rescued another nearly 5,800 migrants desperate to reach Europe. They were rescued over the weekend as they tried to cross the Mediterranean on rickety boats and a majority of them were rescued on Sunday.
This has been reported by the Italian coastguard and indicated in zeenews.india.com dated 4 May 2015.

It seems the number of migrants rescued this weekend was one of the highest recorded in recent years. Obviously, the exodus of people who are risking their lives to reach Europe from Africa and the Middle East has not been affected by recent disasters.
On April 12 and 13 alone, more than 6,000 people were rescued and all of them are not lucky to make it to Europe. Rescuers have recovered some dead bodies on board the vessels. How they died is not clear but these people face many dangers and extreme conditions while fleeing on board overcrowded, flimsy vessels that set sail from Libya to Italy.
Most of the migrants head for the Italian island of Lampedusa which is the closest option to the shores of North Africa.
In the latest rescue operations in the Mediterranean four Italian coastguard vessels, two Italian navy ships and two customs boats, as well as four cargo ships and tugs were involved.
Incidentally, the figures for the number of migrants who have entered illegally into the EU in 2014 almost tripled to 276,000. And, a majority of them (nearly 220,000 as per Frontex) have arrived via the Mediterranean.

#Calais #TheresaMay #illegalimmigrants While illegal immigrants pose innumerable problems for Britain, the newest to get added is the import of fruit and vegetables through Calais – fresh foods are considered to be contaminated if a singly immigrant is there in the containers or lorries that carry the fresh farm products. Accordingly, steps are taken to destroy the complete load of the truck or lorry.
If this continues, Britain will face a serious shortage of supplies of fresh food because entire truck-loads of imported fruit and vegetables are being destroyed if a migrant is found inside a transportation vehicle.
Home Secretary Theresa May has agreed to hold an urgent meeting with the ‘increasingly worried’ food industry on order to evolve methods of better protecting imported food from stowaways. During the Christmas period, large quantities of vegetables destined for supermarkets and other retailers had to be ‘condemned’ for this reason.
Incidentally, many migrants climb on to the lorries as they are being loaded – sometimes as far away as Spain – and, many others sneak aboard later in a journey. But, the fact remains that once such a character is detected, either at the port of Calais or in the UK, the cargo is deemed ‘contaminated’, no longer fit for human consumption and destroyed.
Unless this is checked, it would lead to shortage as well as increase in prices due to the wastages.
