Research has shown that we lose weight on weekdays

#weightloss #fitnessfreaks Nowadays research is conducted on every conceivable subject under the sun, probably for people to keep themselves engaged in some sort of activity or the other. Most of research is done under the banner of some University and one wonders on the modalities and norms of electing the topics.
Like this research, the subject for which was ‘which day or days of the week do people lose more weight’ – fitness freaks would love such studies. The study involved 80 adults in the age group of 25 to 62 and categorized in three categories based on relative weight changes - weight losers, weight gainers and weight maintainers.
The study found that slim people lose more weight during the weekdays. The reason as revealed by Brian Wansink from Cornell University was that on weekends, people have more time to go out and eat. There is no harm in such indulgence but to have successful weight loss, it is important to notice these rhythms and take suitable steps to reverse the upward trends after the weekend.
In order to analyze the pattern of weight loss, the individuals were asked to weigh themselves after waking up before breakfast with the objective of observing whether weight fluctuation is dependent on the days of the week.
The weekly weight patterns were analyzed across the three categories and the results brought out a distinct pattern in weekly weight fluctuation – it showed higher weight after weekends and decreasing weight during the weekdays which reached the lowest point on Friday.
This unique study was conducted in collaboration with researchers from the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Tampere University of Technology.

For fitness freaks – holiday destinations of 2015 for you

#fitnessfreaks Fitness freaks are obsessed with remaining fit at all times – hence, even when they go on holidays or take vacations, they want to maintain the routine because in their opinion, getting fit is one of the best things about taking a break. This could be in the form of walking, paddling or swimming. Hence, they could consider the flowing five options to turn a holiday experience into a workout.
Hiking Cinque Terre in Italy – it consists of five small villages perched above the Ligurian Sea and date to the late medieval period – even today, these are inaccessible by road. Of course these are reachable by train and boat, but hiking is the best. It can provide a new experience since the hike between the towns, as one slowly descends from the rocky cliffs into each brightly painted fishing village, is unlike any other in the world.
It is an 18-Km hiking trail from Riomaggiore, the southernmost village, to the fifth town, Monterosso, and can take up to about five hours, depending on your fitness level.
Stand-up paddle-boarding in Milford Sound, New Zealand – this fitness exercise in the expansive beauty of South Island's Fiordland National Park makes the five-hour journey by car or tour bus from Queenstown a necessary feat to keep crowds at bay.
The weather in this area is slightly unpredictable and, if it rains it would mean the mountain's waterfalls will be going off, creating even more features to paddle towards. Of course, as an alternative, you can go kayaking – there are kayaking guides in the area to help out.
Snorkelling in St John's, US Virgin Islands – this is yet another option. It involves a quick trip to the US Virgin Islands, which is accessible only by ferry. It is home to the Virgin Islands National Park, which encompasses two-thirds of the island's area.
There are over 35 beaches to choose from, including Trunk Bay, which has an underwater snorkeling trail that guides swimmers while informing them about the various species of fish. Apart from this, there are other notable snorkeling spots on the isle namely, Hawknest Bay and Cinnamon Bay, which also has outstanding camping facilities. Sea turtles and rays can be found in Waterlemon Cay, accessible by the Leinster Bay Trail from the Annaberg Sugar Mill ruins. Rollerblading along 'The Strand', Los Angeles – this is yet another option. It can be said to be one of few locations that can provide a pedestrian-only route the length of which is almost a marathon. It is a 35-Km bike path running from Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades, California, to Torrance County Beach.
The route passes landmarks such as the Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach's infamous boardwalk. Rental locations and public toilets pop up almost every half-mile.
Hiking in Patagonia, Chile – it boasts of over 2000-Km of paths, spectacular vistas and unique natural phenomena and is a great idea for novice hikers or experienced trekkers alike. The Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Chile provides more than 181,000ha to explore, with many of the more seasoned hikers choosing the "W Route", which can be broken up into a series of day hikes. The first leg of "W" Route is Mirador Las Torres, the iconic four-stone peaks so often featured in photographs of the region.
