It was the third Wimbledon title for Andy Murray when the 29-yesr-old beat Milos Raonic of Canada in straight sets 6-4, 7-5(3),7-5(2), in two hours 50 minutes. It was Andy's third Grand Slam single title at Wimbledon.
He was in the packed Centre Court crowd at All England Club and the British Royal family was present and Andy could do no wrong as he efficiently countered the booming serves from his Canadian opponent Raonic.
This has been reported in zeenews.india.com dated 10 July 2016.
It was Andy Murray's first final against a lower-ranked player, in the absence of traditional heavyweights. Incidentally, it was the first time since 2002 that neither Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic nor Rafael Nadal have made the Wimbledon final.
Moreover, it was Murray`s first final from 11 at the majors where he was not facing Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer - he had lost against them eight times.

Serena Williams wins Wimbledon 2016 to equal the 22 grand slams of Stefi Graf

World number one Serena Williams (34) has beaten German fourth seed Angelique Kerber to win a seventh Wimbledon and 22nd Grand Slam title. She had to coped with a gusty wind on Center Court and won in straight sets of 7-5 6-3 thereby equaling Steffi Graf's Open era record of major titles.
This has been reported in bbc.com dated 9 July 2016.
Angelique Kerber had beaten Serena Williams in the Australian Open final in January but was unable to produce another shock as Williams ended a losing run at Slams stretching back to Wimbledon last year. With this win, Serena equals the record of German great Stefi Graf in the all-time list of Grand Slam singles champions. Of course, she is now just two behind overall leader Margaret Court, the Australian who won 13 of her 24 major titles before tennis turned professional in 1968.
Serena had first won Wimbledon fourteen years earlier and has now claimed the title for a seventh time after dropping just one set all tournament. She has banished memories of last year, when she fell two matches short of a historic calendar Grand Slam, and, subsequently, of losing in the Australian and French Open finals this year.
