Ajmer airport to be operational by Independence Day

AS per saltest indications, Ajmer airport to be operational by Independence Day. It is believed to be in the final phase of completion and teams from different technical departments are visiting the airport to verify security and management systems.
Flights were supposed to start from March-April this year but it was further delayed for few months due to a number of reasons that included a land dispute. The latest news s that the airport will start trial this year in mid-July and regular services will start from August 15 - its maiden flight would be to Delhi.

Ajmer airport will also connect to other cities like Jaipur, Chennai, Mumbai and some companies have assured to provide services from Ajmer in a charter plane with 70-80 seats. Incidentally, the foundation stone of Ajmer airport was laid down by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and some BJP minister will now inaugurate it. The demand for an airport in Ajmer had been there since 1982 because it is a tourist spot and thousands of tourists and devotees visit Ajmer and Pushkar every month including foreign dignitaries.
Security measures like scanners and security doors are already installed in the airport and terminal is ready for passengers.

New age beggars of Ajmer who beg outside the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti collect alms from devotees who come to visit and, in order to ensure safety of the earnings, they deposit the money in banks - sometimes on a daily basis.
It is a tradition that all devotees who come to Ajmer dargah give the beggars 'zakat' or donations and, on any lean day, a beggar can earn around Rs 200-Rs 300 and, on auspicious occasions, this can up to Rs 1,000-Rs 1,200.

As one of the beggars has revealed - the idea of opening a bank account came to him after a drug addict attacked him with a blade and took away all his money. A kind-hearted person helped him to open a saving account.
Then there is a woman beggar who has ATM. She has an account in a nationalized bank in Ajmer and every second or third day she deposits her savings and, using her ATM card, checks the balance with the help of a guard.

Promoting tourism in Ajmer with laser shows at Maharana Pratap Smarak

The first laser show at the Maharana Pratap Smarak venue in Pushkar was inaugurated by chief minister Vasundhara Raje on August 14 and foreign tourists loved it. After watching the show, she had tweeted that such a fusion of culture and patriotism was rare.
Only - they want that it be held in English language for the benefit of foreigners. This open theater is the only such venue in Rajasthan which is surrounded by Aravalli hills on all four sides and is beamed on three hillocks.

Since the international cattle fair in Pushkar is approaching, foreign tourists have begun to arrive. On their way to Pushkar from Ajmer, they halt briefly to enjoy the laser show in the lap of hills. The current laser show highlighted the bravery of Maharana Pratap and Prithvi Raj Chouhan, apart from underlining the beauty and historical significance of Pushkar.
The show runs daily to a packed house in the evening and people come with their families to watch it. The 3D sound system made the show more exciting and, as the show went on, it seemed as if a real battle between two armies was happening.
The spectators hailed the show, but they had complaints about traffic chaos on city roads because buses and other vehicles stop on roads to see the show and that triggers traffic jams. These need streamlining.
