Dutchman waits 10 days at airport for Chinese online girlfriend who never turned up

This is the sad story of a Dutchman who waited 10 days at Changsha airport in China for his Chinese online girlfriend who never turned up. The 41-year-old Dutchman flew to Changsha in China, to meet his 26-year-old girlfriend for the first time. And - he had to be hospitalized with exhaustion after waiting for 10 days in the airport for the girl who failed to keep the date.
This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz dated 2 August 2016.
After pictures of the man went viral, a Chinese news channel contacted the no-show girl who, it seems, had gone out of town to get plastic surgery and had not been online. Hence, she did not receive the man's message that he had arrived in the country. She went on to explain that she had seen his tickets and treated it as a joke.
She has also added that she wanted to keep the door open on the relationship as was keen to meet him once she had recovered from her operation of plastic surgery. But the heartbroken man had already booked a return flight to the Netherlands, and will return home once he was released from hospital.
