This has been reported in zeenews.india.com dated 7 January 2016.
This conclusion is based on a new study carried out on a total of 497 diners in 60 restaurants - it showed that diners who ordered their dinner from heavier wait staff were usually four times more likely to order dessert, and also 17 per cent more alcohol.
The study was conducted by the Cornell University's Food and Brand Lab and lead author Tim Doering has commented that - no one goes to a restaurant to start a diet. The diner is tremendously susceptible to cues that give us a license to order and eat what we want. Obviously, a fun, happy, heavy waiter, might lead a diner to cut loose a little.
The study observed 497 diners ordering dinner in casual American restaurants and then compared these orders to the Body Mass Index (BMI) of the person who waited on them and the size of the diner. Conclusion - a heavy waiter or waitress seems to have a huge influence on the decisions of the skinniest of diners. Of course, other contributory factors were the lighting, music, and even where you sit.
