Revamp of Patna Zoo on the cards

Revamp of the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, or the Patna zoo, is on the cards and a number of additions and modifications are planned - one of these is the proposal of issuing monthly passes for morning walkers. A monthly pass of Rs 200 could be introduced for morning walkers who use the premises from 5am to 8.30 am when the gates are thrown open to the visitors to the zoo.
This has been reported in telegraphindia.com dated 7 January 2016.
The foundation work has already been taken up on an interpretation centre-cum-3D theater near gate No. 2. The walkway around the old lake is also being widened while the two gates of the zoo are going to be renovated. The enclosure for leopards is undergoing modifications as approved by Central Zoo Authority (CZA).
A zoo educational center is also being constructed beside the guesthouse near gate No. 2.
As to the monthly walker pass, a similar proposal had been announced in May 2011 but it had to be scrapped because of protests from a cross-section of society. At present such morning walkers do not pay any fees but, many others take advantage of this. They enter the zoo slightly before the closing time for morning walkers and, then, roam around later on as regular visitors.
