The tiniest chicken egg – size is 21 mm from Charleston, United States


The tiniest chicken egg in Australasia measures 23mm and weighs 5.2g, and is 2mm larger than the world's smallest egg, laid in the United States. And, Mike Horne and partner Rachel Topham of Papamoa has laid claims to what could be Australasia's smallest chicken egg – it is 2mm larger than the tiniest egg.

In Britain, Keith Bacon made headlines with an egg laid by one of his chickens that measured 28mm.
In 2011, the World Record Academy recorded the smallest chicken egg, from Charleston – it measured 21mm.
There is no category for the smallest chicken egg with Guinness World Records but the smallest egg laid by any bird is that of the vervain hummingbird of Jamaica. Two specimens measuring less than 10mm in length weighed 0.365g and 0.375g.
