The Indians had no answer to the bowling of Rangana Herath who scalped 7 wickets conceding just 47 runs in the process. He was ably supported by Tharindu Kaushal who took 3 wickets for 47 runs.
This has been reported in zeenews.india.com dated 15 August 2015.
The Indians had to score 176 to win but, they were skittled out for their lowest score of 112 in just 49.5 over – Sri Lanka, thus, get a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
The win was a remarkable one because at one time, the home team was struggling at 95 for 5 when Dinesh Chandimal entered the scene and changed the complexion of the game with a brilliant counter-attacking 162 not out.
The next encounter of the two teams will be in Colombo for the second Test to be held at the P Sara Oval from August 20.
