Depressed housewife of Kanpur commits suicide after watching a TV serial

It was a sad end to the life of a 22-year-old housewife of Chakeri, Kanpur, when she hanged herself in her room after watching an episode of a popular TV serial in which a woman was shown committing suicide.
This has been reported in news18.com dated 11 August 2015.

As informed by her family members, she had been suffering from depression and was under treatment for the same. At the time of the tragedy, her husband and in-laws were busy in household chores.
It seems her husband and other family members had rebuked her on late Friday night when she was watching a suicide scene in the popular TV serial in the house. Next day, she had her breakfast and went inside her room. Once inside, she committed suicide by tying a saree around her neck after fixing it with the ceiling.
This is the evil of TV – there have been several instances of children losing their lives when they tried to copy the actions of their heroes that they see on TV. And, now, it is the grown-ups as well.
