Mumbai was originally slated to host the match but, it would now host Qualifier 1 on May 19. The Eliminator will be held in Pune on May 20.
Eden Gardens in Kolkata would host the final of IPL8 on May 24.
This is seen by observers as a last-minute coup of sorts that has been pulled off by Jharkhand State Cricket Association to signal an end to the season’s drought of hosting IPL-8 matches.
This has been reported in telegraphindia.com dated 29 April 2015.
Ranchi had got an opportunity to host its first ODI on January 19, 2013, between India and England. Later, in November 2014, it hosted an ODI between India and Sri Lanka.
As far as IPL is concerned, Ranchi hosted two matches in 2013 — KKR vs RCB (May 12) and KKR vs Pune Warriors (May 14). And, last year, it hosted four CSK matches — against KKR (May 2), RR (May 13), RCB (May 18) and Sun Risers Hyderabad (May 22).
