Pakistan on a militant killing spree after Peshawar Army School massacre

#Peshawar #suicidebombers #Khyberregion After the deadly massacre of 150 schoolchildren in the Peshawar Army School, Pakistan has vowed to eliminate militants and in latest round of air strikes have killed 31 militants. The air strikes in the Tirrah valley of the Khyber region have, reportedly, destroyed four militant hideouts and a suicide bomber training center. Several would-be suicide bombers were among the total 31 dead, as revealed by the Army.
Additionally, a suspected US drone strike has killed a further seven. As intimated by Pakistani intelligence officials, the US drone-fired missiles had targeted a militant compound in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan and killed seven militants and wounding four.
The local troops are pressing on with a six-month offensive in tribal regions along the Afghan border that have long been insurgent havens. As indicated by the military, the operation in Khyber is aimed at militants who have fled a massive offensive in the neighboring North Waziristan region that was launched on 15 June 2014. As per army statistics, so far, the offensive has resulted in the death of 1,200 militants.
