President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration has collected private donations of £74m

President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration has already collected private donations of £74m and donations are still coming in. In contrast, the collections for Barack Obama were £45m for the first inauguration and £35m for his second. The leftover funds and excess inaugural dollars were used to help pay for the annual White House Easter egg roll and other public events.
This has been reported in news.sky.com dated 14 January 2017.
Most of the donors remain anonymous and the committee has to declare their names within 90 days. Blue chip donors named so far include aircraft maker Boeing, which has donated £820,000 - they are the makers of Air Force One. Oil and gas giant Chevron has donated £410,000 while AT&T has supplied extra mobile capacity for the National Mall. It is understood that public funds will pay for the £4.1m cost of building a bunting-decorated 10,000 square-foot platform for the swearing-in.
Incidentally, the President-elect's inaugural team has not been able to win over and attract the kind of A-list performers who had turned out in force for Mr Obama. Artists like Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion and Charlotte Church have all publicly declined an invitation.
