Taj Mahotsav in Agra from February 18 to 27 to commemorate silver jubilee


Agra is set to celebrate the silver jubilee of Taj Mahotsav from February 18 to 27 in Agra and it would be a blue-ribbon event with star-studded attendees - one of them is-expected to be cricket World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev. It would be a ten-day festival of art, culture and cuisine.

To commemorate the event organizers have planned a golf tournament between February 19 and 21. Kapil Dev and captain of 1980 Olympics gold medal-winning Indian hockey team Zafar Iqbal have agreed to take part in the competition in which 170 golfers are scheduled to participate.
On the cultural front there are plans to stage ten plays - or, one every day. There would also be Bollywood personalities like Mohit Chauhan, Palash Sen, Hariharan, Shreya Ghosal and Sundhi Chauhan who are expected to perform in the festival.
The artisans across the country will showcase their work at Shilpgram, the main venue of the Mahotsav. Other venues are Queen Mary Empress Library, Gandhi Smarak and Agra Club. There would be around 350 stalls of handicraft. The aim of hosting this event is to encourage people from Delhi NCR to come down to Agra and enjoy their getaway.
Tickets are reasonably priced - for domestic visitors it will remain at Rs 50 for people above the age of 12 and Rs 10 for children between 5 and 12. It will be free for children below 5 years of age and foreigners.
