Hottest day 26.7C recorded in Frittenden, Kent, with nearly 500 lightning strikes


The Met office has confirmed that the temperature of 26.7C recorded in Frittenden in Kent was the highest to be recorded anywhere in the UK in 2015 and it beats the earlier record of 25.6C (78.08F) that had been was registered in Faversham, also in Kent, on 15 April.
Moreover, Britain has been struck by lightning more than 4900 times across southeast England on one single day even as weather experts have confirmed that it was the hottest day of the year so far.
This has been reported in news.sky.com dated 5 June 2015.
The Met office have issued severe weather warnings for London and southeast England and the East of England and have cautioned about possible flooding and disruption due to lightning and hail storms. Incidentally, passengers on Norwich to London trains faced cancellations and delays due to lightning strikes between Diss and Ipswich that had temporarily knocked out the signaling system.
