Serena Williams wins 20th Grand Slam title with 2015 French Open

Serena Williams won her 20th Grand Slam title when she beat 13th-seeded Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-2 to win the 2015 French Open at Rolland Garros. Only two women are now ahead of Serena in the century-plus history of Grand Slam tennis – they are the 33-year-old American: Margaret Smith Court who has 24 to her credit, and Steffi Graf who has 22.
This has been reported in foxnews.com dated 7 June 2015.
She has the stamina and showed it when she overcame a mid-match lull and a third-set deficit to go ahead and win her third French Open title and 20th major singles trophy. Her previous wins in the French Open at Rolland Garros were in 2002 and 2013.
Her three French Open titles will now figure alongside six each from the U.S. Open and Australian Open, and five from Wimbledon.
Incidentally, Serena Williams is the first woman after Jennifer Capriati in 2001 to win the Australian Open and French Open back-to-back. She will now go to the grass courts of Wimbledon to try and get this title also in the same calendar-year.
