The drug scene in India – celebrities get trapped in drug rings

#DrugFreeIndia In November last, Mamta Kulkarni, a Bollywood actress of yesteryear was involved in a drug incident in Kenya. Her husband was arrested after a major drug bust that was undertaken by the US Drug Enforcement Administration and the National Police Service of Kenya.
In the 1971 movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna, actress Zeenat Aman was shown to be in a drug ring and there have been any number of celebrities dilly-dallying with drugs in India – when apprehended they play it cool.
Drug addiction is a social evil. When school and college-going boys and girls fall in the trap, it brings miseries on their parents and families. Once they get hooked to drugs, it is difficult to wean them away. They have to be sent to rehab centers and have to remain under strict observation and counselling.

Drug is a habit that has ruined many lives and when celebrities get involved, it does raise eyebrows but soon dies down because of the status of the individual. Anything connected with drugs mean money and, in Mexico, the drug cartels call the shots. The police and administration remain helpless spectators. At times, they are blackmailed into submission and become unwilling accomplices.
We want a #DrugFreeIndia and everyone must work towards this goal. We must make it a point to check out and report any cases of drug abuse because once anyone gets hooked, he will resort to stealing and, even robbery to lay hands on money to meet his requirement of fixes.
