Emirates Boeing 777-300 crash lands at Dubai Airport - all 300 pasengers safe

An Emirates Boeing 777-300 with 300 people on board crash-landed at Dubai International Airport and burst into flames on the runway. No fatalities have been reported and all those on board were evacuated safely before the the jet was engulfed in a fireball.

The Emirates flight EK521 was carrying 282 passengers and 18 crew. Among the passers were twenty-four Britons and four Irish - they were flying from Kerala, India. It seems the pilot had told the passengers that there was a problem with the landing gear and that he would be making an emergency landing.
India's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates has said that many of the passengers were in shock while Boeing Airplanes has said that their team is monitoring the situation in Dubai and gathering more information.

Solar Impulse-2 leaves Cairo on the last leg of its journey round the world

Solar Impulse-2, the world's largest solar-powered aircraft, is set to create history by being the world's first fully solar powered aircraft to fly round the world. It has now left the Egyptian capital, Cairo, as it sets off for Dubai on the last leg of its round-the-world tour. It had taken off from Dubai in March 2015.

The Cairo-Abu Dhabi flight would be the 17th and final segment in the journey, which has included crossings of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. If all goes well, Solar Impulse-2 should take about 48 hours to reach Abu Dhabi - the place it began the circumnavigation in March 2015. It is being piloted by Piccard who has alternated pilot duties with his friend and business partner Andre Borschberg.
It should be an easy flight because the weather between Egypt and Abu Dhabi across Saudi is good. But the warmer, thinner air above the Saudi desert would also means Solar Impulse's motors will have to work harder to propel the vehicle forward. That would need careful management of the energy reserves in the plane's lithium polymer batteries so that they can sustain the aircraft through the night hours.
Solar Impulse 2 has covered some 30,000-Km in its quest to become the first plane to circle the world using no fuel other than the energy from the Sun.

This is the true story of a Chinese teenager who wanted to make a living as a beggar in Dubai - he had heard that beggars there can earn up to £49,465 a month. Therefore, he sneaked into the baggage hold of an Emirates Flight EK303 from Shanghai and landed up in Dubai.

The boy was under an impression that, it would not matter if he was caught by the police because he was underage. In fact, he had heard that prisoners get good treatment in Dubai. Anyway, as per the lawyers, he is not likely to be prosecuted but there would be an investigation and he would be deported.
Once he goes back to China, he will be blacklisted from Dubai for life. He is, at present, detained by Dubai Airport Police pending further investigation.

Emirates Airline has plans to cut down total time taken for the ultra-long 14000-Km flight from Auckland to Dubai by using smart planning and technology. This will undoubtedly be one of the longest air routes in the world by distance, and Emirates will go in for making use of flexible routes, which can vary by day, by resorting to taking advantage of tail winds and avoiding head winds - that will help to reduce the time in the air.

The airline will begin its first non-stop service from Dubai to Auckland on March 1, and with the longer duration return leg departing the next day. It will be operated by a Boeing 777-200LR and should typically take just under 16 hours from Dubai to New Zealand and 17 hours, 15 minutes in the other direction.
The non-stop flight will have a complement of 13 cabin crew and four pilots, allowing for rest periods.
The technology that Emirates plans to introduce will eliminate an en-route stop in Australia which could reduce the time to Auckland by up to three hours. And, such measures would also result in increased fuel economies - a plus point with focus on the health of the environment.
Emirates has been eyeing the non-stop flight to New Zealand for about two years. As informed, the most optimal route would be chosen just two hours before commencement of the flight with options of updating during the flight itself. A contingency flight plan would always be there to take care of unexpected events arising during the flight.

#torchtower #dubai #tamweel The Torch Tower in Dubai is a 79-storey skyscraper and one portion of it was engulfed in a huge fire that sent the residents fleeing the scene from the 1100ft tall building as reported in news.sky.com dated 21 February 2015.
As revealed by witnesses, the blaze apparently started at around 2am in the middle of the residential building and rapidly spread across some 15 floors. Videos posted on social media websites showed multiple floors of the high-rise ablaze and strong winds fanned the flames while burning debris rained down from building.
Fire alarms had alerted residents and the building management sent workers to the doors to ensure that the residents got out. The fire was brought under control after several hours and no casualty has been reported.
The Torch Tower is located in the Marina district of the city has and 79 floors. It is one of the world's tallest residential buildings and the apartments are popular with Dubai's large number of expatriate professionals.
Marina district is home to a number of towering apartment blocks and hotels that have come up in the last decade. The reason for the fire in Torch Tower is still not known but, in 2012, there was a huge blaze that had gutted the 34-Tamweel tower in the nearby Jumeirah Lake Towers district – that fire had started from a cigarette butt that was thrown into a bin.

6000 to 8000 Nepali girls trafficked to Dubai from New Delhi IGI airport

#NepaliGirls #Dubai #IGIAirport A racket of organized trafficking of Nepali girls to Dubai through New Delhi airport has been unearthed by the CBI – it could be just the tip of the iceberg because rough estimates indicate a figure of between 6000 to 8000 girls aged between 20 and 30 who have become victims till December 2014.
It was a multi-agency international operation and was spearheaded by Central Bureau of Investigation – the girls were sent to Dubai for alleged prostitution and the transit point was Delhi's IGI airport for their travelling to the gulf country.
The agency has informed the ministry of external affairs, ministry of home affairs, bureau of immigration and Nepal authorities through Interpol about the organized syndicate, which sends the girls on tourist visas.
The sources said during the inquiry which was being covertly conducted by the agency, probe officers collected information from Foreign Regional Registration Office, Air India, Qatar Airways, Bureau of Immigration and 15 travel agents based in Delhi.
CBI has informed the ministry of external affairs, ministry of home affairs, bureau of immigration and Nepal authorities through Interpol about the organized syndicate, which sends the girls on tourist visas. They are given tickets, provided visa and hotel reservation in Nairobi via Dubai for tourist purposes but, once they reach Dubai, their tickets for Nairobi and hotel bookings are cancelled and they are trapped.
