Topper scam in Bihar and, now, sorry state of education in UP are eye openers

Many professors in UP have no knowledge of the subjects they teach. Examples are an associate professor of English who can not spell the word 'evaluation', and an economics lecturer who has no idea what 'audit' means or what 'IMF'. He feels IMF is the acronym for 'International Money Found'. There are some who do not know who Akhilesh Yadav is or when India gained its independence.
The topper scam in Bihar has revealed that money can buy top spots in important examinations even though the knowledge acquired by the individual may not amount to much when challenged. This, coupled with the sorry state of education in UP are eye openers regarding the sorry state of education in the country.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 29 June 2016.
In Bihar, it was a student but in UP, they are regular professors and, with such poor knowledge, their students can never expect to get proper education and face challenges in future. The shocking state in UP came to light in the course of evaluation of answer sheets of BA English, history and economics at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM). When the centre's evaluation coordinator grilled the two teachers after doubting their credentials, it transpired that both of them had have valid degrees and teach at colleges affiliated with UP universities.
Both the teachers have been blacklisted. They have been evaluating papers for years and also possess extensive teaching experience.
