This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 6 June 2016.
It has ow been revealed that there is a shortlist of 100 candidates who will have to establish a human colony on the planet Mars. They will have to undergo tests as part of a new phase of the selection process to cut them down to just 40. At the start, there were around 200,000 hopefuls from 140 countries who had signed up for the Mars One project. That has been cut down to 100 people. And, after the five-day third phase of tests, it will become 40. The final list of 24 will be chosen from this list of 40.
The one-way trips to the red planet are scheduled to start in 2026.
In the course of the five days of rigorous tests, the candidates will face several challenges. Since they will not be returning to Earth, the selected ones must be capable of living in small groups, finding water, producing oxygen and growing their own food. They will have to survive by any means possible and, if worst comes to worse, they would have to become cannibals.
