Delhi, the capital of India, faced with water crisis

Come summer and thee is a problem with availability of water everywhere but, in Delhi, the capital of India, there is acute shortage. While Delhi produces the maximum amount of water, unequal distribution has led to chaos in the city because in areas like Mehrauli people get 28 litres per capita daily and, in contrast, another area like Delhi Cant gets 509 LPCD of water.
The area with five per cent of city's elite population get 450 litres per capita of water but, the marginalized, which covers over 70% of the capital, consume less than five percentage of Delhi's water supply.
This has been reported in ibnlive.com dated 6 April 2016.
As per records, the Delhi Jal Board produces around 4.4 million litres of water everyday and there are 1 crore 70 lakh people in Delhi with 21 lakh authorised consumers. Therefore, by simple arithmetic, even if the entire population is considered, every one should get 237 litres of water. But - that is not happening.
In the opinion of Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the problem lies in the unequal distribution of water and, some get too much and others get too less.
An example is Mahavir Enclave which gets less than 20 litres per capita everyday, but, in contrast, posh areas like the Delhi Cant gets 509 litres per capita everyday.
The Delhi government has assured that they are looking into the matter and will resolve the problem soon. AAP Minister Kapil Mishra has indicated that piped water connections will be given to everyone and arrangements are being made for the same.
Of course, in spite of getting new connections, there are complaints on the quality of water which is, reportedly, stinking and, black in color.
