Britain battered by heavy rains - parts of England saw 40mm rain in an hour

Britain is in the grip of rains with parts of the UK experiencing the equivalent of a month's rain fall in a few hours resulting in widespread flooding. Parts of England saw as much as 40mm of rain fall in a single hour.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 14 August 2015.
As per forecasts of the Met Office, unsettled weather will continue to prevail in northern England, southern Scotland, across Wales, the West Midlands and down towards parts of the South West today.
There was a yellow Met Office warning in place for most of England, Wales and southern Scotland, while the Environment Agency has issued five flood alerts in the south east, four in the Midlands and one in Newcastle under Lyme, warning flooding was possible.
Some scheduled programs went haywire like the Airbourne airshow in Eastbourne that had to cancel its flying displays for the day because of the heavy rain. Similarly, Eastbourne's Arndale shopping center had to be evacuated because of flooding, but was later reopened.
