The country's fair pricing authority has seized these toys from three warehouses run by Kreisel. They are Venezuela's largest toy distributor. Simultaneously, two executives of the company were detained on suspicion of promoting price speculation.
This has been reported in thestatsman.com dated 11 December 2016.
It seems Kreisel had under-reported its inventory in order to sell some toys at higher prices. The company has not commented officially on this aspect. As understood from the authorities, local supply committees will be in charge of distributing the toys "fairly" to children.
Incidentally, Venezuela has been wracked by a deep economic crisis that has been accompanied by shortages of goods ranging from food staples to medicine.
