They have been sighted many times in the habitat area and local residents are in obvious panic.
This has been reported in thestatesman.com dated 28 November 2016.
Two of them were captured on CCTV camera at Nirankari Bhawan on the Camel’s back road in the first week of November. Subsequently, one hotel staff claimed that he was attacked by the jungle cat near the crowded and busy library chowk area. Similar sightings have been reported from 2-3 other places of Mussoorie.
Based on sighting reports and the CCTV footage, the Uttarakhand forest department is closely monitoring the situation and trying to identify the location of the leopard. Mussoorie is surrounded by dense forest and reports of the animals venturing into any village does make occasional news in the hill station. However, this is for the first time that leopard sighting is making regular headlines in the popular tourists destination.
