On the recognition, Trump commented that 'to be on the cover of Time as Person of the Year is a tremendous honor' while Time editor-in-chief Nancy Gibbs said it was the easiest decision the magazine has ever made for the honor.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 7 December 2016.
Time had earlier revealed that Prime Minister Modi was the winner of the online reader's poll for the 'Person of the Year' honor by winning 18 percent of the vote. He, thus, finished well ahead of the other finalists. There was a three-way tie for second place, with Trump, President Barack Obama and Julian Assange all of whom finished with 7 percent of the vote.
Last year, Trump was beaten by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
