Abhinav Bindra misses the 2016 Rio Olympics medal and plans to retire

Abhinav Bindra, India's hopes of a 2016 Rio Olympics medal ended when he finished fourth in the 10m air rifle event at the Olympic Shooting Centre in Rio de Janeiro. While interacting with reporters an hour after the event, he indicated his resolve to hang up his rifle. Shooting would no longer be any part of his life, even as a hobby.
He had obviously made peace with the fact that it was the end of his career without a win.
This has been reported in zeenews.india.com dated 9 August 2016.
Abhinav Bindra is the only gold medallist India had produced in an individual event and, after twenty years, five Olympics and three Olympic medals, he felt that he deserved to take it easy. On a query as to whether he would be at least shooting in his backyard range, he replied that he would be converting it into a vegetable garden.
Incidentally, the sight of the original gun, made especially for the Rio Olympics, had broken when it fell in the morning, hence he had to use the spare gun. But he did not think that had any effect.
