It was the third Wimbledon title for Andy Murray when the 29-yesr-old beat Milos Raonic of Canada in straight sets 6-4, 7-5(3),7-5(2), in two hours 50 minutes. It was Andy's third Grand Slam single title at Wimbledon.
He was in the packed Centre Court crowd at All England Club and the British Royal family was present and Andy could do no wrong as he efficiently countered the booming serves from his Canadian opponent Raonic.
This has been reported in zeenews.india.com dated 10 July 2016.
It was Andy Murray's first final against a lower-ranked player, in the absence of traditional heavyweights. Incidentally, it was the first time since 2002 that neither Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic nor Rafael Nadal have made the Wimbledon final.
Moreover, it was Murray`s first final from 11 at the majors where he was not facing Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer - he had lost against them eight times.
