Alipore Zoo gets a newborn giraffe plus 4-horned antelope, and Indian wolf cubs

Alipore zoo is basking in the glory of new arrivals - it has 10 new inmates who have upped its cuteness quotient. These are a giraffe calf, two antelopes and seven Indian wolf cubs.
This has been reported in telegraphindia.com dated 3 June 2016.
The female giraffe calf, the latest entrant, was born in the zoo on May 20 - it is three-and-a-half-feet tall and weighs 60kg. The mother and calf are doing well but not been put on display and will be kept away from public view for a few weeks to allow the young one to adapt to its surroundings. The baby was on its feet within an hour of birth and is feeding on her mother’s milk since birth.
Alipore zoo now has eight members — five females and three males.
Last month, two four-horned antelopes, locally known as chousingha, were inducted from Rourkela. The four horns of this antelope species distinguish it from most other bovids that normally have two horns. A pair of horns is located between the ears and the other on the forehead. The posterior horns are always longer than the anterior ones, which might be mere fur-covered studs in some.
The antelopes are put in the enclosure that was originally meant for red kangaroos because it has been vacant since the death of the last surviving kangaroo in any Indian zoo.
And then there are seven Indian wolf cubs that were brought to the Alipore zoo after being rescued from a forest at Jhargram. They were in a malnourished state and bore injuries. The eight month old cubs have been given medical treatment and are recovering.
