Airbus plans to increase its seating capacity in A380

Airbus plans to increase its seating capacity in A380, the biggest passenger jet in the world. The European aircraft manufacturer wants to squeeze in an extra economy seat in each row on its A380 jumbo jets - that way, the total number of seats in each row would increase from 10 to 11. At present, Airbus has more than 170 of these aircraft in operation by 13 airlines. Most notable among these are Emirates, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Etihad and British Airways.
This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz dated 3 June 2016.
Obviously, the new three-five-three pattern of seating would be more crowded when compared to its current three-four-three setting. The middle seat will be the most loathed seat in the cabin because whoever is occupying the middle of the middle row would be sandwiched between two lots of two passengers - and that would make it even more difficult to shuffle past seats or talk to the flight crew.
It may be recalled that last year, Emirates set the record for the world's longest flight - it flew an A380 from Dubai to Auckland in 17 hours and 15 minutes.
A380 is the largest passenger jet in the world. It is a double-decker jet with four cabin classes: economy, premium economy, business and first-class. Airbus expects to raise $32 million by adding the extra seats to its double-decker A380s.
