Three-day Bird festival in UP to attract birdwatchers


The state of UP is wants to set a world record during the Bird Festival in Baah event on December 4 by attracting the largest number of birdwatchers at a given time across multiple locations in the state. The event will start at 6 am on Friday.

Till now, the largest number of birdwatchers in India that had gathered to see the avian species across India was 5,000 on Big Bird Day.Big Bird Day is an annual event that had been started by the Delhibird group and it is meant to celebrate the joy of bird watching and is dedicated to bird watching and enumerating the avian species seen at a chosen location.
During the birthday of Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav celebrated in Saifai on November 21, UP had established a world record in planting the most number of trees in one go on. The SP-led government is now intent on setting another record during the three-day bird festival.
Authorities in all districts that have wetlands have been directed to bring people from all walks of life to the identified spots. Places like zoos and other areas where birds arrive in large numbers are chosen by the respective districts. The district administrations will be making arrangements for binoculars as well as bird guides to inform birdwatchers about the species of birds they see.
The event will be recorded through Google Maps.
Around 10 lakh people are expected to watch birds at various locations across the state.
Mainpuri in Agra division will organize the bird festival on December 4 at four spots namely Sahan village in Karhal, Kinhawar village in Bhogaon, Saman bird sanctuary and Markandeya lake.
