Britain in search for a national bird – vote before 7 May midnight

#nationalbird #baldeagle #blackbird #peacock #ornithologist It is hard to imagine that Britain does not have a national bird and, therefore, ornithologist David Lindo has taken a decision to promote his passion for conservation. He has featured on TV shows such as Countryfile and, after realizing that Britain is one of the few countries that does not have its own national bird, has decided to pursue the subject.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 16 March 2015.
America has the bald eagle, Sweden the common blackbird, Japan the green pheasant, France the Gallic rooster and India the peacock but, for Britain, there is no unique bird that has been given the tag of ‘national bird’.
David Lindo has shortlisted 10 feathered friends – namely, Robin, Kingfisher, Barn owl, Blue tit, Wren, Blackbird, Puffin, Mute swan, Red kite and Hen harrier.
So far, over 70,000 people voted for a British shortlist and they still have another six weeks to select which of these birds should represent the country. Voting would end on 7 May midnight. Once the public consensus is known, David Lindo would approach the Government to make an official announcement to declare the winner as Britain's national bird.
