Direct flights to begin between Ahmadabad and London from 15 December

At long last, wishes of Gujaratis will be fulfilled when Air India begins a direct flight between Ahmadabad and London from 15 December. Ahmadabad is the economic and industrial hub of Gujarat and a daily direct flight will come as a boon. from December 15. This will fulfill a strong demand of more than 6 lakh Indians from the state of Gujarat who reside in London.

Right now, Air India operates four frequencies to London - three from Delhi and one from Bombay. And, the new proposed direct flight without changing aircraft at Mumbai will come as a boon.
The flight will operate with a B-787 Dreamliner aircraft, on the route Ahmedabad-Mumbai-London-Mumbai-Ahmedabad. Designated as AI131, it will take off from Ahmadabad at 0430 hrs to arrive Mumbai at 0545 hrs, leave Mumbai at 0705 hrs and land at London at 1130 hrs.
On the return leg flight it will be AI130 - it will leave London at 1330 hrs, arrive at Mumbai at 0400 hrs next day, depart from Mumbai at 0530 hrs and land at Ahmadabad at 0645 hrs.

The family had spent two days in London – the reason for their coming was to highlight her campaign Let Girls Learn to bring girls in the world's most impoverished communities into education. The First Lady had discussed her ongoing effort to improve education for girls across the third world.
She explained that she had grown up in a working class neighborhood where people work hard to make ends meet and where families are tight-knit with strong values. She had her grandparents, aunts, and cousins living nearby, just blocks away from her apartment.
Moreover, her home was often busy with family coming and going and, since the apartment was small, there was not much privacy. At times, it was difficult to concentrate on the homework because someone was always talking or watching TV right next to me.
Among her engagements was a visit to Mulberry School in Tower Hamlets, East London, whose female pupils she said 'inspired her'.
From London, the family left for Milan on completion of their two day tour.

Once prescribed, the once-a-day tablet, could spare blood cancer patients the traditional chemotherapy with its side effects.

As explained by Professor Stephen Devereux, consultant haematologist at King’s College Hospital in London, chemotherapy kills cancer cells and also normal cells and therefore has a number of side effects.
However, since the Ibrutinib drug is targeted at the B-cells, the side effects are minor. Moreover, it is not necessary for patients to shift to the hospital to get it administered.
On a rough estimate, nearly one in every 25 people will be diagnosed with blood cancer during their lifetime – that would translate into 25,000 people annually in the UK. Out of these, the breakdown would be 2,800 with CLL, the most common type of leukemia, while around 500 will have MCL, a rare type of B-cell lymphoma.
As things now stand, a course of ibrutinib is a costly affair – it would cost up to £74,000 a year – and will be prescribed only to those patients whose disease does not respond to chemotherapy, or those who have relapsed following chemotherapy.

#quadcopter #drone #WhiteHouse #UAV The appearance of a quadcopter drone in the grounds of the White House has put a huge question mark on the security system in the White House and has highlighted the growing security threat posed by small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). It is believed to be a harmless drone but the fact remains that it had breached security belt.
The incident in the White House has come less than two weeks after a drone flew over the French presidential palace in Paris.
Drones can fly at low altitudes and, hence, detecting these devices poses a challenge to those involved in providing security cover to people who matter.
As the Secret Service has clarified - the drone was a 2-foot-long commercially available "quadcopter." An officer posted on the south grounds of the White House complex had, reportedly, "heard and observed" the device "flying at a very low altitude" shortly after 3 a.m. ET. It was a commercially available device and did not pose any threat.
However, the possible dangers of drones cannot be ruled out. As Caroline Baylon, a cybersecurity researcher at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, in London, has indicated – due to their small size and ability to hover low over the ground, the drones can pose a huge security headache.
Drones have opened up an area that has not been defended before – most of the available radars cannot detect drones that have the ability to fly really low.

The Master of Wine at a premium outlet has agreed that Chinese wine has transformed in quality in recent years. The really expensive black label version sells at £65 per half bottle and the gold label at £19 - both are excellent and very competitive at that price.
As one of the managers has revealed, seven million bottles were produced this year and, for next year, the target would be nine million.
