Prince Harry and Meghan would not be present at the Royal Family's festive dinner

All members of the Firm get together at the annual dinner held at Sandringham. However, this Christmas there is no invitation for Prince Harry and Meghan. This year, the monarch has extended invitation to the banished Sarah Ferguson. She has not been allowed to attend since 1992. The late Prince Philip banned her following the release of some photographs. By his action, King Charles has taken a bold step. He is "showing us all what Christmas is all about - family and forgiveness." That is how royal author Robert Jobson sums it up. He said the King's main concern this year would be the "missing" Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Charles tried to forgive them — he would love to be able to end the friction — but contact with them has been limited. It seems the monarch offered them an olive branch just before the Queen's death but they arrived late to the meeting. Robert Jobson goes on to add that Charles "has been pushed to his very limit with the Sussexes." However, their Netflix series and Harry’s new memoir "are still hanging over the Royal Family." King Charles's 'major problem' this Christmas will be Harry and Meghan's sad absence. Royal author Robert Jobson says - "It took three decades for Fergie to make it back to the Christmas table — for Harry and Meghan, it might be an even harder road back."

It seems Prince Harry will not be with the Royals for Christmas. Sources reveal that the relations were “near rock bottom” and the Duke of Sussex will snub an invite from King Charles ahead of the book’s global release on January 10. Harry’s elder brother Prince William and his wife Kate have reached Boston, US, ahead of the Earthshot Awards. However, they reportedly do not have any plans to catch up with Harry and Meghan. Harry lives with his family in California. It is about 200 miles from Boston. They have another program and travel to New York City to accept an honor at the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Awards. William will give the Earthshot Awards while Harry will receive Hope Awards.

Mourning period of Queen Elizabeth II is over and Prince Charles is the heir apparent to the throne. Accordingly, the website of the Royal Family has been restructured. Prince William is now The Prince of Wales and will become the next king after King Charles. Hence, his picture appears just after The King and Queen Consort Camilla. The picture of Kate Middleton, The Princess of Wales, is below that of Prince William. As far as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are concerned, they still have a place in the British Royal Family’s website but right down the list. Even now, they continue to be working members of the family but their images are below everyone else. Prince Harry, Meghan Markle get ‘lowest place’ in Royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had resigned from their positions in January 2020. They were forced to take the seat directly behind Princess Anne. However, with King Charles III taking the throne, Harry and Meghan are now directly seated on top of Prince Andrew. They have hardly ever been seen in Britain since the infamous "Megxit." The two of them now live in California and returned to the UK after the demise of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8. It seems a book lists a number of fresh scandals involving the couple. The book goes on to say that once his nephew Prince George attains the age of 18, Harry could fade into obscurity. Moreover, the book makes a mention of Harry's long-held worry about being an "also-ran." Incidentally, soon after Charles became The King, his message to the couple via television was - “Today, I also want to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas.” He does have a soft corner for them but Prince William was furious at their decision to quit from Royal responsibilities.

The Royal family and the world paid tributes to Queen Elizabeth II who passed away peacefully at the age of 96

Queen Elizabeth II was in Balmoral, her Scottish retreat, where she passed away peacefully. Her grandson, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, shared a stately tribute to her on Archewell. It is the website for their foundation. They changed the front page of the website. It changed to a simple black background with white text. It read - "In loving memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022." At the time of her death, Harry joined other members of the Royal family. She was at the time under medical supervision and ultimately passed away. Incidentally, Harry was in Europe at the time with his wife Meghan. They had come to attend to a number of events related to charity work. The couple had taken a decision to step back as working royals and shift base to the United States in 2020. However, Harry's grandparents played an important role in his life. His grandfather Prince Philip passed away in April 2021. Harry and Meghan also paid homage to his grandmother the Queen when they named their daughter Lilibet or Lili. It happened to be the nickname for the Queen within the royal family. Ever since stepping down, Harry and his wife visited the Queen on several occasions. In 2022, they had tea with Her Majesty in Windsor in April. Official details of the funeral of Her Majesty are yet to be announced. Harry will most possibly be present for the event, as he was for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip. At that time, Meghan was unable to attend because of her advanced pregnancy with baby Lili.

Britain will get a new prime minister after the resignation of Boris Johnson. Liz Truss won the leadership race for the governing Conservative Party 81,326 votes to 60,399. She beat former finance minister Rishi Sunak to become the third woman after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May to become the PM. Liz Truss has vowed to press ahead with promised tax cuts. Her eyes are also on issues like tackling a deepening energy and cost of living crisis. Other points ahead of her are household finances, industrial unrest, a recession and war in Europe. Britain has stood beside Ukraine. She does not foresee another national election before 2024. At that juncture, she would like to deliver a great victory for her party. Observers notice signs of divisions in her party. This is because of her narrow winning margin. Her opponent Rishi Sunak went to a social media platform and said - "It's right we now unite behind the new PM, Liz Truss, as she steers the country through difficult times." Liz Truss vows tax cuts after winning vote to be next British prime minister. Boris Johnson, the outgoing incumbent will travel to Scotland to meet Queen Elizabeth and officially tender his resignation. Liz Truss will follow him and the monarch is expected to ask her to form a government.

Truss (47) will now become the Conservatives' fourth prime minister since a 2015 election. Since then Britain has found the going tough and now faces a long recession and inflation which has already reached double digits. Business leaders from different sectors want her to evolve strategies in order to arrest the soaring cost of energy. They also want her to tighten labor markets to ensure survival of business. The PM-in waiting has promised to act quickly.

Following his own re-election in Witney, near Oxford, David Cameron went to London to pay a visit to Buckingham Palace. Here, he was reconfirmed as prime minister by Queen Elizabeth II.

The stunning victory by the Conservatives cut short the careers of Cameron’s top three rivals and put the country`s European Union future in doubt.
There had been widespread predictions that there would be a neck-to-neck contest with the opposition Labor party but it did not happen. David Cameron won 331 seats in the 650-seat House of Commons. This will pave the way for a majority Tory government.
Incidentally, the counting of votes and declaration of results for the 650-seat House of Commons was over within 24-hours. In India, it takes days. Wonder when Indians will be able to improve its systems and bring them at par with world standards. Past leaders have expressed desires to make Mumbai at par with Shanghai and make Kolkata into London. Will such a transformation ever take place in India - or will these remain dreams?
